Back on positive lines; Indian markets close positive - Mar 6, 2007 @ Closing time
Thanks to the recovery during the laster part of the day, all the major indian stock indices came out in positive.
NIFTY closed at 3655.65 (+2.21%)
NIFTY JUNIOR despite showing some dullness recovered and finally closed at 6433.90 (+1.01%)
CNX IT closed at 5189.15 (+4.75%)
Bank Nifty closed at 5110.15 (+1.39%)
CNX 100 closed at 3529.45 (2.04%)
Banking stocks took a mixed note continuing to show some uncertaining in the sector. The Bank Nifty however ended in green. Top Bank stock gainers of the day include Punjab National Bank (+3.55%), ICICI Bank (+3.21%), Oriental Bank of Commerce (+2.96%) and State Bank of India (+2.65%) while the top loosers in the segment are Bank of India, UTI Bank, Corporation Bank, Bank of Baroda and Canara Bank.
IT was the sector that brough the turnaround. All the 20 scripts in the CNX IT closed in green today some good positive points. The toppers in the list include Wipro, Rolta, Infosys Technologies, MPhasis and Moser Baer.
Topping the charts of Nifty 50 are Wipro, Infosys, MTNL, ACC, Bharti Airtel, BPCL, Satyam Computers, GAIL, HPCL and Jet Airways.
Top Nifty 50 losers are Tata Power, Hindalco, Hero Honda, IPCL, Tata Motors, Hindustan Leaver, Dabur, ONGC, Tata Steel and HDFC.
Sensex closed at 12697.09 (+282.05)
USD/INR is at 44.47
