Top Nifty gainers of the day are Jet Airways (+7%), HindPetro (+3%), Sun Pharma, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, Oriental Bank of Commerce, BPCL, Suzlon, ZeeL (all +2%) and TCS (+1.8%). Jet Airways which opened at 549.50 and saw an intraday high of 583.50 and intraday low of 543 before closing at 541.95 (+7.01%)
Cement stocks continued to be haunted even today. ACC and Gujarat Ambhuja Cements lost over 4% today. ITC (-3%), Grasim, HDFC Bank, MTNL (all above -2%), IPCL, REL, Dabur and Reliance Communication (all above -1%) are the top loosers on the Nifty.
Stocks in the Junior Nifty that witnessed good buying interest are IDFC (+5%), Bharat Forge, Ashok Leyland, ING Vysya Bank, LIC Housing Finance, TVS Motor, Bank of Baroda, Biocon (all +2%), Asian Paints and Apollo Tyres (all +1%).
Top Junior Nifty loosers of the day are Banking stocks such as Union Bank of India, Bank of India (both -2%), Corporation Bank and Syndicate Bank (both -1%)
BANK NIFTY closed at 5180.10 (-0.15%). Banking stocks had a mixed day today. 6 stocks advanced while an equal number declined on the Bank Nifty. Oriental Bank of Commerce, Bank of Baroda (both up 2%), ICICI Bank (up 1%), Canara Bank and UTI Bank (both marginally up) all closed in positive. On the downside, Union Bank, HDFC Bank, Bank of India, Corporation Bank and Syndicate Bank all closed in red.
