The Indian Stock Markets, having seen a bad start of the financial year yesterday, tried their best in recovering today. Nifty closed at 3690.65 today and has gained 1.57%. BSE Sensex closed at 12,624.58 adding 169.21 points or 1.36%.
Sectoral watch shows IT and PSU stocks gaining today while Consumer Durables, Capital Goods, FMCG, Metal and Oil stocks have held above +1%. Health Care, Bank and Auto stocks closed marginally in the green territory.
On the Bank Nifty, 9 stocks advanced, 2 declined and 1 remained unchanged. OBC, Bank of India (both +5%), Corporation Bank (+3%), HDFC Bank and UTI Bank (both +1%) closed with a positive note. News that Public sector banks are not so favored amongst traders has made SBI and Syndicate Bank to close marginally in red. Of the huge volatility, Stocks in the IT sector seems to be the coolest ones. Top IT companies Wipro, Satyam, Tata Elxsi, Infosys and HCL Tech closed up 2%. On the other hand, IGS, Rolta, MPhasis, Hexaware and Polaris closed in red.
Top gainers on Nifty 50 today include OBC, GAIL, Jet Airways, BHEL, SAIL, Wipro, Satyam, Hero Honda, IPCL and HLL while Cipla, Bajaj Auto, HDFC, Sun Pharma, SBI, VSNL, Dabur and ACC closed in red.

Markets are holding the gains that were made so far. NIFTY is currently at 3689.95 and is up 1.55%. Sensex is at 12,455.37 and has gained 169.21 points (+1.36%). The Midcap and Smallcaps were small gainers while much of the contribution came from BSE 100 and BSE 200. Looking at the sectors, Consumer Durables, Capital Goods, FMCG, PSU and Teck looks good. The markets began to gain points as traders began taking fresh positions. NIFTY is at 3683.65 (+1.38%). Sensex is at 12,601.59 (+146.22; +1.17%)
Top gainers on BSE so far are Sungenta Ltd (+41.15), BHEL (+121.60), Exide Industries (+1.6), GAIL (+9.75), Kotak Bank (+16.5)
Top gainers on Nifty 50 are BHEL (+5%), GAIL (+3%), Wipro, Hero Honda (both +2%), M&M, Satyam Computers, Infosys Technologies, HLL, Zee Limited and ITC (all +1%). Top Nifty 50 losers include OBC (-1%), Cipla, Dabur, HDFC, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, SBI, VSNL, Hindalco and Glaxo (all marginally down).
Overall the market sentiment seems to be positive.

Market volatility continued during the last trading hour and the markets continue to hold in the green territory. NIFTY gained 0.5% and is currently at 3652.50 while Sensex added 53.15 and is trading at 12,508.52
BSE Midcap and Small caps just entered into red. FMCG and IT sectors are trading good and both the indices are +1%. Bank, Consumer Durables and Health care sectors are partially weak. CNX IT gained over a percentage.
Top Nifty 50 gainers so far are GAIL (+3%), BHEL, HLL (both 2%), Infosys, Wipro, ONGC, Satyam Computers, M&M, ITC and HCL Tech (all +1%). The losers pack includes Bajaj Auto, Cipla, HDFC, OBC, SBI (all -1%), ACC, Sun Pharma, Siemens, SAIL and ICICI Bank (marginally in red)

Markets opened slightly in the green territory. NIFTY is at 3659.50 (+0.71%) while Sensex is at 12,549.56 (+94.19 pts; +0.76)
BSE Consumer Good Sectoral Index is +1% while almost all other sectors are marginally in green.
