Nifty is at 4022.45 and is up 0.94%. Sensex is currently trading at 13,721.98 and is up 114.94 points or 0.84%. Midcap index is up 1.07% while Smallcap index is up 0.98%. Health Care, Banking and PSU indices are up over 1% today. IT is up by 0.36% after yesterdays not-so-great trading session.
Top gainers on Senxex so far are GTL, Sterl Biotec, Raymond Ltd, HCL Technologies, Power Finance, Sun Pharma, Alstom, Birla Corp and Indian Bank. Top losers so far are Tata Steel, CESC Ltd, IGate Global, Alfta Laval, Castrol India, BPCL, HPCL, Tata Tea, Asian Paints and Micro Inks.

Reliance Mutual Fund has announced few changes for its popular Reliance Tax Saver Fund (ELSS). The new terms are actually for the minimum amount per SIP and the SIP duration. The new terms of the scheme will come into effect from April 17, 2007 and are as follows:
A minimum of Rs 500 and in multiples of Rs 500 thereafter for minimum of 12 month.
A minimum of Rs 1,000 a month and in multiples of Rs 500 thereafter for minimum of 6 months.
A minimum of Rs 500 a quarter and in multiples of Rs 500 thereafter for minimum of 12 quarter.
A minimum of Rs 1,500 a quarter and in multiple of Rs 500 thereafter for minimum of 4 quarter.

If you would like to invest in Mutual Funds and do not have enough funds even for the minimum application amount, there is good news for you. ICICI Prudential has announced MicroSIP that allows investors to put in money as investments for as low as Rs. 50 and Rs. 100. Of course, units purchased via the MicroSIP route will be put in Growth option only. Entry loads will be 2.25% while Exit loads differs depends on the time and amount being invested. All other terms and conditions of SIP will apply for MicroSIP as well.
Introducing MicroSIP investments with low starting amounts are believed to increase the investor base as well as the volume of investments that goes into mutual funds.
