Sensex manages to close in green; Up 30.92 points at closing bell - April 23, 2007
Trade on the Indian stock markets remained volatile today. Nifty closed the day at 4085.10 (+0.04%). CNX IT is down 0.30% while Bank Nifty is down 0.85%.
On the Sensex, the Midcap index closed at up 0.06% while Smallcap index is in red by 0.05%. Consumer Durables index is down 2.36%, FMCG is down 1.62% while Health Care index is down 1.4%. Metal stocks continued to be hot favorites amongst traders. The index is up 2.01%.
Top gainers on BSE today are Syngenta Ltd, Exide Industries, IGate Global, Alfa Laval, Maharash Sea, Ramco System, Jindal Steel, Jet Airways, Tata Steel and Finolex Cables. Top losers on BSE today are Sun Pharama, Titan Industries, MPhasis Ltd, Balajee Tele, Suzlon Energy, Proctor & Gamble, ITC, IDBI, Gujar In Pwr and Orchid Chemicals.
On the CNX IT, 8 scripts advanced while 12 declined. Top gainers are Patni, Rolta, GTL, HCL Insys and Satyam Computers. Top losers in the list are MPhasis, Tata Elxsi, HCL Tech, Polaris and Subex. Many analysts are positive on Satyam Computers and gave a buy call for the script.
On the Bank Nifty, only ICICI Bank remained in the green. ICICI Bank last traded at 917.55 today. Top losers are Bank of India, Kotak Bank, Bank of Baroda, Corporation Bank and Punjab National Bank.
Top Nifty 50 gainers of the day are Tata Steel, Tata Power (both +4%), VSNL, Reliance, Zee Limited (all +2%), Reliance Communications, Glaxo, ONBC, ABB and SAIL (all +1%). Top Nifty 50 losers of the day are Sun Pharma (-4%), Suzlon, HCL Tech (both -3%), ITC (-2%), M&M, MTNL, Bajaj Auto, Maruti, HLL and PNB (all -1%).
