Market-wide Position Limit in IFCI and ARVINDMILL

NSE Press Release

The derivative contracts in the underlying IFCI and ARVINDMILL  have crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit on April 25, 2007. It is hereby informed that all clients/ members shall trade in derivative contracts of IFCI and ARVINDMILL by offsetting their existing positions till the open interest comes down to 80% of the market wide position limit.

Indian Stock markets close positive - April 25, 2007

Nifty closed the day at 4167.30 having gained 0.62%. CNX IT closed a bit downwards at 5290.40. Bank Nifty closed over a percentage point and closed the day 5876.45.

On CNX IT, 9 scripts advanced while 11 declined. Optical discs giant Moser Baer topped todays CNX IT gainers list. The script is up 5.1% today and last traded at 359.40. Other scripts in the gainers list include MPhasis, GTL, Finantech and Haxaware. The losers list includes Patni, Tata Elxsi, Infosys Technologies, Subex and Satyam Computers. On the Bank Nifty, 11 scripts advanced while 1 script declined. Corporation Bank gained 3.3%, Bank of Baroda, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Union Bank and Canara Bank are all up 2.2%. UTI Bank slipped marginally and last traded at 467.70.

The Top 10 Nifty gainers charts are led by pharma companies. Ranbaxy and Cipla are both up by over 5% in todays trade. The other gainers are Hero Honda, ITC, Glaxo, Tata Power, HDFC, ONGC, M&M and Grasim. Top Nifty losers are Zee Limited, GAIL, Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers, MTNL, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, L&T and Maruti.

The Sensex is up by 81.05 points today. Sensex closed at 14,217.77 as against its previous closure of 14,136.72. Midcap and Smallcap indices continued to stay up over 1%. On the sectoral watch, FMCG gained 2.5%, Auto, Bank, Health Care and Oil & Gas sectoral indices are up over 1%. IT index is down 1.3% followed by Metal index that shed 24.16 points in todays trade.

Sensex up 55 pts - April 25, 2007 - 2:15 PM

Markets gained good strength in the last 1 hour of trade. Sensex is now at 14,191.75 and has gained 55.03 pts and is up 0.39%. What is interesting is that the midcap and smallcap scripts began to take part in pushing the index upwards. Both the indices on the BSE are up by over 1%. FMCG sectoral index is up 2%. IT and Metal scripts are a bit weak.

Nifty is at 4151.35 and is up 0.21%. CNX IT is down by -0.56% while Bank Nifty is up 1.33%.

Top Sensex gainers so far are Shipping Corporation, Tata Tea, Indian Bank, Castrol India, GTL India, Parsvnath, Lanco Infra, Ramco Systems, TVS Motor and Chambal Fertilisers. Top Sensex losers so far are Godrej Cons, Zee Entertainment, Hindustan Zinc, Sterl Biotec, Exide Industries, Wyeth Ltd, GAIL India, Tata Elxsi and Tata Steel.
