Volatile is back into action as the markets failed to take a single direction path today. The stock markets opened positive in the morning but began to loose points for the first one hour or so before taking the route towards positive direction by noon. Selling is evident by 2:00 Noon though the markets recovered back promptly by closing time.
Nifty closed at 4177.85 and is up 0.25%. CNX IT is up 0.44% while Bank Nifty is up 0.08%.
Top Nifty gainers of the day are HPCL, GAIL, BPCL, Siemens, Suzlon, Grasim, Bajaj Auto, MTNL, HLL and L&T. Top Nifty losers of the day are HCL Tech (-2%), Hero Honda, Tata Steel, ONGC, Reliance, Dabur, Glaxo, Satyam Computers, HDFC and Gujarat Ambhuja.
On the CNX IT, 6 scripts advanced and 14 declined. Gainers include IFlex (+3.3%), TCS, Wipro (both +2%), Mastek and Tech Mahindra (marginally positive). Top losers include Finantech (-5%), Hexaware, Moser Baer (both -3%), HCL Tech and Subex (both -2%).
The BSE Sensex closed the day 14,228.88 points having gained 11.11 points or 0.08%. Midcap index is down 0.30% while Smallcap index is down 0.82%. Consumer Durables sectoral index is down while Capital goods index is up. Other indices are marginally up or down.

Reaching up new highs during recent times, the BSE Sensex managed to cross the keenly watched 14.3K mark. The index is currently at 14,304.53 and has gained 86.76 points. Midcap index is marginally positive while Smallcap index is marginally in the red. Bankex, Capital Goods sectoral indices are trading over +1%. Consumer Durables index is marginally in red.
Major Sensex gainers so far are Vijaya Bank, Visual Soft, Neyveli Lignite, Mangalore Refineries, Indian Cement, Union Bank, Dena Bank and Mico Ltd. So, the announcement is finally made. AIG Global Investment Group Mutual Fund has announced its first mutual fund for the Indian investors. AIG India Equity Fund will be an open ended diversified equity fund with 80%-100% for equity investment and a maximum 20% for debt.
AIG India Equity Fund will be in NFO from May 3, 2007 and closes on May 31, 2007. Cost of unit during NFO will be Rs. 10
The fund will take BSE 100 as its benchmark. The usual Growth, Dividend Payout and Dividend Reinvestment options are available.
