The media had reports that Reliance Industries Ltd may acquire a stake in Cipla Ltd.
The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the companies.
Cipla Ltd. has vide its letter inter-alia stated, “The Company denies the rumour appearing in the news item.”
Reliance Industries Ltd has vide its letter inter-alia stated,”Reliance Industries Limited (”RIL”) does not comment on speculative media reports. RIL keeps on evaluating growth opportunities. RIL shall intimate the Stock Exchange, Shareholders and Media about any domestic or international acquisition.”

The derivative contracts in the underlying IFCI have crossed 95% of the market-wide position limit on June 07, 2007. It is hereby informed that all clients/ members shall trade in derivative contracts of IFCI by offsetting their existing positions till the open interest comes down to 80% of the market wide position limit.
