Markets close in red - June 7, 2007
The markets closed the day in the red yet again. With the Friday sentiment tomorrow, good amount of selling is visible across the board. Volatility is back into action. IT stocks however continued to shine.
CNX NIFTY closed at 4179.50 and is down 0.45%. NIFTY JUNIOR is down 0.45%. CNX IT is up 1.71% while BANK NIFTY is down 1.39%. CNX 100 is down 0.45%.
On the Bank Nifty, only 1 script advanced while 11 declined. Union Bank is the lone stock in the Bank Nifty to be in the green. Corporation Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, OBC and SBI tumbled down by 3 to 2% each.
On CNX IT, 16 advanced while 3 declined and 1 remained unchanged. Finantech, HCL Insys, MPhasis, Patni and Satyam zoomed ahead while GTL, CMC and Mastek closed in the red.
BSE Sensex closed at 14,186.18 and is down 69.75. Midcap Index is up 6 points wihle Smallcap index is up a mere 1 point. Auto, Bankex, FMCG and Oil & Gas sectoral indices are down by over a percentage point in todays trade. IT managed to be up over 1.7%.
Top gainers in today’s trade are Satyam, Hindalco, Wipro, Infosys, Reliance Communications and TCS. Bajaj Auto, Hero Honda, ACC, Maruti, ITC, SBI, HLL, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors and L&T closed in the red.
