The media had reports on June 20, 2007 that Surana Industries Limited may buy a coal mine in Indonesia.
The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.
Surana Industries Limited has vide its letter inter-alia stated, “A Memorandum of Understanding has been reached between Messrs Agate Group (Malayasia) and Messrs Surana Industries Limited Chennai dated 17.4.2007. The Memorandum of Understanding has been entered with respect to the exploitation of the coal mines located in Indonesia. The Memorandum of Understanding has been entered to ensure that both parties are interested and will be put through once all necessary approvals are received.”
