Markets close in red - September 7, 2007

Its the Friday for the week.Indian Markets couldn’t continue to remain in the green today showcasing fears of the September 18.

NSE and BSE almost continue to close in red.

NSE Nifty closed at 4509.50 points and is down 0.20%. Nifty Junior is down 1.19%. CNX IT is down 0.32% while BANK NIFTY is down 0.38%. CNX 100 closed down 0.35%.

Amongst CNX IT Rolta,HCL-Insys,Mastek,GTL and Hexaware closed in green while Patni,CMC,I-Flex,HCLTech and Moserbaer closed in red.

On the Bank Nifty, HDFC Bank,Orient Bank,Canara Bank and Union Bank closed in the green while HDFC Bank closed in green while Bank Baroda,Kotak Bank,Axis Bank,SBIN and Corporate Bank closed in red.

BSE Sensex closed at 15,590.42 points and is down 25.89. BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices too closed less than a percent up.Top sectoral indices gainers include Auto,Bankex, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Health care and IT.

USD/INR is trading at 40.69

Intra-day BSE Realty Index Movement – September 6, 2007

The Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd. announced the launch of BSE Realty Index on July 9, 2007 to mark its 133rd Foundation Day.

The ‘BSE Realty Index’ on September 6, 2007 opened at 7431.42 and touched an intra-day high of 7571.93 to close the day at 7547.65, up by 27.61 points, 0.37% from its previous close of 7520.04. It touched an intra-day low of 7431.42.

The media had reports that Private equity funds, General Atlantic, Blackstone and Warburg Pincus may buy a stake in Infomedia India limited.

The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.

Infomedia India Limited has vide its letter inter-alia stated, “The Company has received no intimation from its shareholders regarding the contents of the article.”
