Intra-day BSE Realty Index Movement – October 8, 2007

The Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd. announced the launch of BSE Realty Index on July 9, 2007 to mark its 133rd Foundation Day.

The ‘BSE Realty Index’ on October 8, 2007 opened at 9745.39 and touched an intra-day high of 9810.93 to close the day at 9283.22, down by 348.14 points, 3.61% from its previous close of 9631.36. It touched an intra-day low of 9096.26.

Indian markets close in red; IT sector cheers up - October 8, 2007

The opening trading day of the week saw almost all sectors seeing a bear run. Most sectors sans the IT closed in the red. IT sector is cheering ahead of Infosys Quarterly results.

NSE Nifty closed at 5085.10 points and is down 1.94%. Nifty Junior is down 3.70%. CNX IT is up 0.56% while BANK NIFTY is down 2.79%. CNX 100 closed down 2.18%.

Amongst CNX IT Patni, Satyam Computers,Wipro, Mphasis and Infosys technologies closed in green while Moser Baer,Finantech,Tata Elxsi, I-Flex and Polaris closed in red.

On the Bank Nifty, HDFC Bank closed in the green while Bank India,Orient Bank,Union Bank, Kotak Bank and Baroda closed in red.

BSE Sensex closed at 17,491.39 points and is down 1.59. Both BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices closed more than 3 percent down.

Top sectoral indices gainers include Auto, Bankex, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Health care and IT.
