Emaar MGF IPO gets extension

As expected by the market sources the IPO of the real estate firm Emaar MGF Land Ltd is extended to February 11, 2008.

The price range was initially put at Rs. 610-690 but was put down at Rs. 540-630. The lower band is further changed to Rs. 530 today. The recent jitters in the stocks markets due to the US recession has put hit the market the world over. With the BSE and NSE correcting a bit in recent days, Wednesday is believed to be the wrong day for the closing of the IPO.

The Real Estate Sectoral index on the BSE closed down by 2.40% losing 256.14 points.

Indian stock markets close in red, frontline IT stocks the worst hit

The Indian stock markets joined its Asian peers and closed in the red. Sensex is down 2.81% while Nifty closed down 2.94%.

CNX IT is down 5.15%, CNX 100 is down 2.85% while CNX Midcap index is down 1.67%. Amongst  the sectoral indices, Consumer Durables is down 4.55%, Metal is down 3.6% while Reality, Bankex and Auto are down over 2%

Large cap IT stocks corrected a bit today. Satyam, Wipro, Infosys are down over 6%, National Alumnium, Hindalco, Sterlite Industries, Unitech and TCS are down 5%. SAIL, Maruti, VSNL, ONGC, HCL Tech and Punjab National Bank are down 4%.

Nifty gainers include GAIL that plunged 3.3% while Reliance Energy, Reliance Communications and ABB closed marginally in the green,

Leading mid cap gainers of the day include RNRL, TTML, Ashok Leyland, Aurobindo Pharma, BEML, LITL, Kesoram Industries and Moser Baer. Mid cap losers include Titan Industries, Mphasis, Rolta, IVRCL Infra, Birla Jute, HCC, Bombay Dyeing, Nagarjuna Constructions, Divis Labs amongst others.

Indian markets takes a weak opening

In line with the US and the Asian trends, the Indian stock markets took a weak opening this morning. Nifty is down 2.9% while Sensex is down 3.1%. IT and Metal stocks continue to be the worst hit.

BSE Mid cap index is down 2.03% while BSE Small cap index is down 1.55%.

Infosys, Wipro and Satyam are down over 4% while TCS is down over 3%. Global Tele is up 1.93%. Amongst the banking stocks, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Bank are down 2% while Punjab National Bank is down 3%

Large cap stock losers in the early trading hours include Sterlite Industries, Bharti Airtel, HDFC, HCL Tech, Unitech, VSNL, Sun Pharma, Hindalco amongst others. Only Hero Honda is up marginally amongst the Nifty 50 stocks.

Asian markets tumbles on US recession factors

After a weak close in the US markets, the Asian markets are taking a bad Wednesday morning. Hang Seng is down 5% while Nikkei 225 is down over 4%

Other Asian markets too are witnessing selling pressures. Straits Times is down 3.6%. All Ordinaries, Jakarta Composite are down over 2% while Shanghai Composite is down 1.55%

Recession concerns pulls NASDAQ down

The US markets had yet another bad trading day as the markets were down on concerns of rescission. NASDAQ, S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, Russell 1000, Russell 2000 are down over 3% while Dow Jones Industrial Average is down over 2.9%

Most advancing stocks on the NASDAQ include IDM Pharma, Inc. , ChinaCast Education Corporation, Yucheng Technologies Limited, NetScout Systems, Inc. and Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. while the toppers in the declines list include SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc., Rainmaker Systems, Inc., ARM Holdings, plc, Bakers Footwear Group, Inc. and Rochester Medical Corporation

IDM Pharma Inc. (NASDAQ: IDMI) opened the day at $1.10, touched an intraday high of $3.88 before closing at $3.81. The script reported unusual mid-day volumes. IDM Pharma Announces Phase 3 Mifamurtide (L-MTP-PE) Study Demonstrating Improved Survival Published In The Journal Of Clinical Oncology.
