Indian markets close day with modest gains

The Indian stock markets closed the day with modest gains. Nifty closed the day at 4620.15 points up 2%. Nifty Junior is up 2.49% Bank Nifty is up 4.01%. CNX IT closed marginally down 0.13%. CNX 100 is up 2.07%

Nifty gainers of the day include Reliance Infra (up over 7%), Unitech (up over 6%), SBI, Maruti (both up over 5%), ONGC, ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, Zee Limited (all up over 4%), DLF and Reliance (both up over 3%)

Nifty losers list includes Sterlite Industries, Dr. Reddy, TCS, Cipla, Tata Steel, Tata Communications, IDEA, Infosys Technologies, Hindalco and ACC

The BSE Sensex closed at 15,503.92 gaining 336.10 points or 2.22%. BSE Midcap is up 1.63% while BSE Smallcap index is up 1.25%. Amongst the BSE Sectoral Indices, Realty is up 5.27%, Bankex is up 4.16%. Oil & Gas and PSU have given up their gains but closed the day in the green. Both the sectoral indices are up over 2%

Nifty continues to hold 4600 mark - Banks gain more strength

The NSE Nifty is continuing to hold the magical 4600 mark. Nifty is at 4599.1 up 1.54%. IT lost some shine wwhile Banking stocks continue to make further inroads. The Bank Nifty is up 4.26%

Toppers on the NSE Nifty so far today include Unitech, ICICI Bank, SBI, Reliance Infra, Maruti, Reliance Communication, PNB, HCL Tech, GAIL and Reliance. Top losers on the so far include Sterlite Industries, TCS, Cipla, NTPC and Dr. Reddy.

Good delivery based buying is believed to be driving the markets today.

Markets continue to trade strong - SpiceJet signs deals with WL Ross

The Indian stock markets continued to trade strong. CNX Nifty is testing the 4600 levels and is at 4600.50 up 1.57%. BSE Sensex is at 15454.96 up 287.14 points or 1.89%

Bankex, Realty sectoral indices are now up over 3% on the BSE. Bank Nifty is up 3.39%. Canara Bank, Kotak Bank, PNB are up over 4%. SBI, Axis, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, HDFC are all up over 3%

A private indian business news channel is reporting that SpiceJet has signed a definitive agreement with the American investor WL Ross. This will bring in an investment of USD 100 million for the already starving private airliner.

SpiceJet is trading at Rs. 30.40 up by Rs. 1.75. Its peer Deccan Aviation is trading at Rs. 86.20 up by Rs. 2.60

Indian Markets open strong - Banking stocks amongst top gainers

Indian stock markets opened with a good gap up this morning. At about 10:10 AM, the Nifty is at 4596.05 up 1.47% while the BSE Sensex is up 1.75% gaining 265.31 points and is at 15433.13

Sectoral Indices that have shown good postive upward movement include Bank, PSU, Realty, Oil & Gas, Power amongst others.

Bank Nifty is up 2.89%. Punjab National Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI are the top gainers amongst top link Banking scripts. Other chart toppers so far on the Nifty include Unitech, Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements, Maruti, BPCL, M&M and HCL Tech
