SBI Magnum Contra Mutual Fund Dividend of Rs. 4 per unit

SBI MF has done it once again. The announcement of a dividend of 40% on a face value of Rs. 10 or Rs. 4 per unit. May 16, 2008 will be taken as the record date for distribution of the dividends. The earlier dividend announcements are made in May 2007 and April 2006, both of which are of 40%

UTI SPrEAD Fund announces 8% dividend

UTI SPrEAD Fund from UTI Mutual Fund announced a dividend of 8%. This is the first dividend announcement from the fund scheme.

The scheme’s inception date is 22 June 2006 and comes into Open Ended Equity Oriented Scheme category. Mr. Harsha Upadhyaya is the fund manager of the scheme.

The objectives of the scheme are: “The investment objective of the scheme is to provide capital appreciation and dividend distribution through arbitrage opportunities arising out of price differences between the cash and derivative market by investing predominantly in equity & equity related securities, derivatives and the balance portion in debt securities. However, there can be no assurance that the investment objective of the scheme will be realised.”

The Asset Allocaiton of the scheme is as follows: ”     Equity: 65-90%, derivatives 65-90%, money market & debt instruments 10-35%”

UTI SPrEAD Fund has Rs. 429.51 Crores as AUM (as of Jan 31, 2008). Its NAV is 11.478 (as of Feb 14, 2008)

Top holdings of the fund include Vijaya Bank, Allahabad Bank, Axis Bank, Sesa Goa and Union Bank of India.

The minimum investment in the scheme is Rs. 5000. There is no entry load into the scheme. Exit Load is 0.75% For < Rs.2 Crores; 0.50% For > = Rs.2 Crores (Effective from 15-Nov-2005). M/s. Karvy Computershare Pvt. Ltd. is the Registrar for this fund.

Magnum Taxgain announces 110% dividend

Magnum Taxgain from SBI Mutual Fund has announced a dividend of 110%. February 15, 2008 will be taken as the record date.

SBI Magnum Taxgain is one of the most popular Tax Savings (ELSS) Mutual Fund. The scheme was launched in March  1993 and has net assets worth Rs. 3,549.90  (as of January 31, 2008). Gopal Agrawal is currently the fund manager of the scheme.

The scheme has Financial Services, Energy, Metals & Metal Products and Basic/Engineering amongst its top sectoral holdings. In regard to stock specifics, the scheme has Reliance Industries, Jai Prakash Associates, Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren, Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Communications as its Top 5 stocks.

Kotak Tax Saver announces 35% dividend

Kotak Tax Saver from Kotak Mutual Fund has announced a dividend of 35%. The record date for the dividend distribution will be taken on February 8, 2008. Kotak Tax Saver is an ELSS Tax Saver Mutual Fund.

This is the second time that the scheme is announcing a dividend. The earlier dividend announcement was for 30% announced in February last year.

Kotak Tax Saver has Krishna Sanghavi, Anurag Jain as its fund manager and has a corpus of Rs. 466.26 Crores. Its first allotment on November 23, 2005.

The scheme as Petroleum Products, Textile Products, Construction, Finance and Banking as the top five sectoral holdings. Financial Services, Construction, Energy, Metal & Metal Products form the top 4 sectoral holdings. (as of Dec 31, 2007)

HSBC Equity Fund announces 100% Dividend

HSBC Equity Fund of HSBC Mutual Fund has announced a dividend of 100%. The record date for the dividend is fixed as February 8, 2008.

The HSBC Equity Fund has Mihir Vora & Jitendra Sriram as its Fund Managers. The fund has its first allotment date as of December 10, 2002. The fund size is Rs. 1475.1357 Crores and takes BSE 200 as its Benchmark and has an investment style of Blend and Midcap and Large cap orientation.

The scheme has Banks, Construction, Telecom - Services, Consumer Non Durables and Oil as the 5 top holdings. Reliance Industries, Jaiprakash Associates, State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are the top 5 holdings. (Details as of December 2007)
