Coal India IPO price band fixed at Rs. 225-245 a share

More information is pouring in on the much awaited Indian IPO of the year –that of the Coal India Limited (CIL). The Government has announced that the Coal India IPO will carry a price band at Rs. 225-245 a share. 5% discount will be given to the retail investors and employees of the company. The IPO will be open from October 18, 2010 to October 21, 2010 and the script will be listed on November 4, 2010.
Choksey felt the price band would be Rs.250 to 260 a share and now that it is on the lower side, they feel the share already will have a marginal upside immediately. They said the IPO will get a good response.
However, Tulsian expected the price band at Rs. 220 to Rs. 230 or the discount for retail investors would have been put at 10%.
Haldea expected a discount of 10% instead of the 5% discount allowed for retail investors.
