Indian stock markets close on strong note

December 26th, 2007

The Indian Markets registered a good growth on trades today. Sensex closed at the 20,192 points mark and is up 338 points. Nifty 50 is up 85 points and closed at 6070 points. The other Asian markets are positive but have lost much of their gains by the closing time.

Buying interest is evident in Indian blue chip stocks. The Midcap and Smallcap stocks too did their part.
Reliance Industries, Reliance Petrol, Reliance Energy, Reliance Capital all closed in the green. BPCL has hit its year high. Tata Steel did well and so did the metal stocks. Nagarjuna Fertilizers closed positive.

Sugar stocks are trading good. Bajaj Hindustan has hit its yearly high. Amongst the banking stocks, Kotak Mahindra Bank has done remarkably well. The stock zoomed 4.9% today and so did Corporation Bank.

The large cap IT stocks that were seen weak in the early hours have rebound back though not to the expected extent. Infosys and Satyam managed to close in the green while TCS is down by 0.85%. Subex and CMC has lost considerably today.

Some of the top midcap gainers of the day include Ansal Infra, HCC, Bajaj Hindustan, J&K Bank, GE Shipping, Tata Chemicals, Corporation Bank, Nagarjuna Constructions, BEML, Punj Lloyd, Syndicate Bank, IVRCL Infra, Andhra Bank amongst others.
