Last minute gains takes markets to highs - May 31, 2007

Thanks to the last minute trades, the markets were able to close in the green. The Nifty has touched a new all time high today. CNX NIFTY closed at 4295.80 and is up 1.09%. CNX NIFTY JUNIOR closed up and is at 8022.55 at closing time having added 0.33%. CNX IT is up at 5218.35 and gained 0.55% today. BANK NIFTY added 1.27% - thanks to large cap banking stocks such as SBI that added the weight. CNX 100 closed up 0.98%.
On the CNX IT, 15 scripts advanced while 5 declined. Rolta, HCL Insys, Patni, Satyam and Wipro are leading gainers. Moser Baer, Polaris, Mastek, TCS and Subex ended in red. Its a day of the large cap stocks on the Bank Nifty, 8 advanced and 4 declined. HDFC Bank, UTI Bank, PNB, SBI and Kotak Bank gained while Canara Bank, Union Bank, Corporation Bank and Oriental Bank closed in the red.
The Sensex closed at 14,544.46 adding 133.08 points or 0.92% in todays trade. Midcap sectoral index added 0.50% while Smallcap index added 0.86%. Auto, Bank, Consumer Durables, FMCG added over 1% today. Infact, Consumer Durables added over 4.4% in todays trade.
Top Sensex gainers today are Hero Honda, HDFC Bank, Maruti Udyog, HLL, Housing Development Finance, SBI, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Wipro and Cipla. Top losers on the Sensex are BHEL, Gujarat Ambuja Cements, NTPC, Dr. Reddy, ACC, Ranbaxy, TCS, ONGC and Grasim Industries.
