Markets lose gains by closing bell time

The Indian stock markets had a reasonably good start, been flat till mid day but reversed course post-noon.
The Nifty closed at 4335.35 up a mere 0.18%. The CNX IT is up 0.22% while the Bank Nifty is up 1.47%.
The Sensex closed the day at 14,450.35 up 48.86 points or 0.34%. The BSE Midcap index managed to close the day in the green while the BSE Smallcap index ended in the red. Amogst the sectoral indices, Realty is up 2%, Bankex up 1% while the rest are marginally in the green or the red without much activity.
Top Nifty gainers of the day include Zee Limited (NSE: ZEEL). The stock closed at Rs. 211.45 up 4.52%. HDFC is up 3.71%. M&M, DLF, Sun Pharma are up over 2%, ICICI Bank, Satyam, BPCL, Grasim and PNB are all up over a percentage. On the losers side are Suzlon, Tata Power, ABB, Ranbaxy, Unitech, Tata Communications, BHEL, Tata Steel, RPL and Sterlite.
