Markets manage to close in the positive - May 9, 2007

The NSE Nifty closed the day today at 4079.30 points - up by a mere 0.06%. CNX IT was down 0.76% while Bank Nifty is up 1.83%.
Sensex last traded at 13,781.51 points and is up 16.05% or 0.12%. Midcap index is up 0.21% while Smallcap index is down 0.30%.
Bankex Sectoral Index gained 1.46% today while FMCG, IT and Oil & Gas sectoral indices closed marginally in the red.
Coming to the specific stocks, Indian Bank, Dena Bank, Britania Industries, SKF India, Federal Bank, IDBI Ltd, Syndicate Bank, Cummins India, GMR Infra and SBI topped the Sensex charts today. On the losers side are GAIL India, Essel Propac, IPCA Lab, Mirc Electronics, Moser Baer, Apollo Hospitals, Nestle Ltd, National Fertilizers, TCS and Jaiprak Assoc were amongst top losers on the Sensex today.
One stock the is getting immense interest of the traders is Syndicate Bank. Both volumes and devlivery based trade seems to be catching up in this script.
