Markets open positive; Smallcap index up over 1% - June 4, 2007 - 10:20 AM

The Indian Stocks Markets opened on a positive note. Sensex is at 14,652.84     and has gained 82.09 points over its previous closure and is up 0.56%. Midcap index is up 0.69% while Smallcap index zoomed 1.12% in the first few minutes of trade.

Metal sectoral index is up over 2% and Bankex and Consumer Durables are up over 1%. Other indices too are trading positive.

Major gainers so far are Hindalco, SBI, HDFC, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Maruti Udyog, Dr. Reddy, NTPC, Reliance Communications and Ranbaxy. Top losers so far are Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Satyam and Hero Honda.

Nifty is trading at 4314.50 points and is up 0.41%. Bank Nifty is up over 1% while CNX IT is marginally up.
