Sensex closes day 113.79 points down - May 8, 2007

The Sensex lost about 110 points today taking the index to sub-13800 levels. The Sensex closed the day at 13,765.46 and lost 0.82%. Midcap index is down 1.10% while Smallcap index is down 1.15%. Auto, Bankex, Consumer Durables, Health Care and IT indices have lost about a percentage point in todays trade.
Sensex gainers of the day are Micro Inks, Britania Industries, Reliance Capital, Mirc Electronics, ICI India, ACC Ltd, BASF India, National Aluminum and Apollo Tyre. Top Sensex losers of the day are ISPAT Industries, Rashtriya Chemicals, Rolta, HCL Infosys, Cummins, GAIL India, SKF India, Birla Corp, IDBI and MPhasis Ltd
Nifty ended the day at 4077.00 points and is down 0.83%. CNX IT is down 1.54% while Bank Nifty is down 1.31%.
On the Nifty, top gainers of the day are ACC, National Aluminum, Siemens, Ster, PNB, SAIL, Grasim, Gujarat Ambhuja Cements, Suzlon and Tata Steel. Top Nifty losers are GAIL, Hero Honda, SBI, Glaxo, MTNL, Hindustan Petro, M&M, Infosys Technologies, BPCL and Tata Power.
In the CNX IT, 1 script advanced while 19 scripts declined. Moser Baer is up marginally and closed at 363. Top losers in the index are Rolta, Tech Mahindra, MPhasis, Financial Technologies and HCL Insys.
On the Bank Nifty, 2 stocks advanced and 10 declined. PNB and UTI Bank closed in the green while SBI, Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Union Bank and Canara Bank closed in the red.
